The dead man’s anointing
Hey to all,
Hope this post finds you in the high spirits of Easter, with less than 10 days for Easter my heart is already brewing with the thought that the day of resurrection is just around the corner. It’s a good reminder that God can bring back to life everything the devil and challenges of life has managed to kill.
Over the weekend a very interesting thought caught my attention about the life of Elisha the prophet, hence sharing that with you guys today.
(2Ki 13:21) And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
From this verse we understand that the prophet Elisha has died and was buried in a tomb and about a year later there was a funeral close by maybe next to Elisha tomb. When the family saw a gang of Moabites arrive they abandon the body and run away. In fact another version goes on to say they threw the body into Elisha’s tomb. The minute the corpse touched Elisha’s bones the corpse comes back to life.
I have read this passage of scripture a few times in the past and but last Sunday evening it hit me like a brick. If the anointing on Elisha’s dead bones had the power to raise the dead back to life, why didn’t it bring Elisha back to life? Then I made this simple yet profound discovery that the anointing on Elisha’s life was not for him but for somebody else. The minute the anointing made contact with the corpse its power brought it back to life. Isn’t it amazing that God will give you something and yet it’s not for you but for the benefit of another. The anointing you have is not for you but for this generation.
I wonder what would happen if we made our lives, ministries, anointing, gifts and meetings not about us but for the benefit of somebody else WOW!
I urge you to consider what you have just read and see what your anointing, ministry and gifting is bout?
Your anointing is not about you it’s about this generation!
Blessings and Love
